FINNja Warrior

April 

Finn gym is converted in to an obstacle course for kids of all ages to enjoy! Volunteers help to schedule participants and coordinate the event. Beloved gym teacher, Mr. McCabe, leads the design and set-up of the event.

Community Reading Day

March

This event is held across Massachusetts. Volunteers help to recruit and schedule members of the community to read to students in their classrooms at Finn.

Putt Putt Palooza

March 

Putt Putt Palooza is a Spring event (typically mid-March) in which we bring in a mini-golf vendor to transform the Finn gym in to two 9-hole golf courses. This volunteer team is responsible for coordinating with the vendor, food (including pizza, beverages and bake sale), coordinating volunteers to run the event (and/or help out yourself!), organize and run basket raffle and ticket sales.

Finn Fall Festival and Book Fair

September

The Finn Fall Festival is one of our largest fundraisers to kick off the school year with fun games, activities, food and baked goods on a Friday night.

School Picture Day

September

Volunteers help to coordinate School Picture Day at Finn. We recruit parent volunteers to server as the liaison between the photography company and school administration. Create schedule for the photographs with the teachers and attend picture day to assist students and faculty. Also coordinate re-take day if necessary.

Box Tops

Two collection dates; one in the Fall and one in the Winter

Help to coordinate Box Top collection fundraising efforts throughout the year (note there are 2 collection dates). This involves helping to trim Box Tops (from the comfort of your couch) that have been collected through the classroom so that they can be submitted for reimbursement. In 2016-17 we raised over $1,000 through parents efforts!

Community Awareness (Donation Drives)

Monthly 'Spirit Days' collect donations for local food pantry

This group of volunteers helps to coordinate community service projects such as Finn's monthly food drive which coordinates with Spirit Day. This also includes the holiday giving drive and the winter coat drive. Responsibilities include helping to publicize and coordinate delivery of donation from Finn school to recipient (e.g., Food Pantry).

Hospitality

Help is needed throughout the year for events

This group organizes and coordinates refreshments for events including room parent coffee in September, principal coffees held quarterly, and teacher appreciation week in May. Volunteers will be called on throughout the year to help as needed.

Room Parent (Closed until next year!)

Sign ups accepted through June 23, 2017 for 2017-18 School Year

Room Parents are needed in each classroom to assist the teacher throughout the school year in a variety of organizational aspects. The Room Parent is the liaison between the teacher and the parents. Each teacher will have different expectations but responsibilities may include: planning holiday or end of year parties, gathering volunteers for special events, projects or field trips, emailing correspondence from SOS, and coordinating everyday activities in the classroom.

Bus Monitor

For the first two days of school; August 30 + 31, 2017

This is a new and exciting time for our children but it can also be scary and stressful. This volunteer role is really important to help ensure a great experience for all of our children. The Bus Monitor will ride the bus and help the drive to ensure children are safe and happy.
